Company Policies

Sustainability is as the heart of CleanScapes mission. CleanScapes maintains sustainability policies to guide our growth and daily activity.

Carbon Footprinting

CleanScapes partnered with Sustainable Business Solutions in August 2009 to calculate our carbon footprint. As a new and growing company, CleanScapes is using the results from this baseline measurement to set goals for reduced carbon emissions across all aspects of our business, and we have committed to measuring our footprint on an annual basis to track this progress.

Seattle Climate Partnership

CleanScapes is a member of the Seattle Climate Partnership, and has committed to helping our community reduce its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by seven percent or more below 1990 levels by 2012 in order to meet the Kyoto protocol goal. We have already reduced the impact of garbage collections in Shoreline and Seattle by over 12% by selecting CNG fueled trucks and carefully designing collection routes.

Company Sustainability Policy

Our Company Sustainability Policy describes CleanScapes' role in creating more "sustainable" cities through resource conservation. New CleanScapes employees receive training in this policy as part of orientation, and are expected to do their part to educate customers, watch for waste reduction opportunities and "walk the talk" at the office and on the job.

Environmental Purchasing Policy

CleanScapes' Environmental Purchasing Policy allows the company to incur 10% cost premium for products with less environmental impact but comparable performance. The policy requires employees to research and consider environmentally preferable product alternatives.

Green Power

CleanScapes is pleased to support Seattle City Light's Green Up program at our Seattle Headquarters, shop, and yard by purchasing green power for a portion of our electricity. We are proud to support alternative energy projects in the Northwest.
