Look for a sticker on your container. The check marks indicate the container size, collection day and collection frequency.

How can I get locks on my containers and how much do they cost?

Send an email request to information@cleanscapes.com or call us at 206-763-4444.

For a one time charge of $12, you will receive the locks needed for one container and a key to each lock. Containers larger than 2 yards require 2 locks.  Because of the extra time required to service locked containers, there is a $1.50 charge per collection of each locking container.

What can I put in my recycling cart/container and what can I put in my green food scraps & yard debris cart?

Do I have to put food scraps in my yard debris cart?

No. Food scraps & yard debris service is an optional service. If you choose to subscribe to food scraps & yard debris service, you are not required to put food scraps in the cart, although it may save you money if you can downsize your container by putting the food scraps in the yard debris cart rather than the garbage.

Can I put meat scraps and dairy products in my food scraps & yard debris cart?

Yes, because commercial businesses and apartment/condominium complex customers’ food scraps & yard debris carts are emptied every week.

Why would I want to put food scraps in my yard debris cart?

When you put your food scraps & yard debris in the green cart, you can save money, extend the life of a public resource (Cedar Hills Landfill) and create a valuable product (compost) used to improve growing conditions and reduce water use in landscaping.

Anything else I should know about the food scraps & yard debris program?

Food scraps and yard debris can be quite heavy.  Please note the weight limits indicated by the raised letters on your cart lid.
