Waste Reduction Tips
Tip of the Week
• Reducing Your Footprint in Flight Your bags are packed. You have your tickets, your snacks and in-flight reading. Hmmm…..is there anything else you are forgetting?
Consider packing your travel mug and reusable water bottle. You recycle at home and at work, why not reduce and reuse on the road? While you will have to pass through airport security with these reusable and refillable containers empty, think of the resources and money you will save by filling up at the airport drinking fountain as you head to your gate, and using your travel mug for the in-flight beverage service.
• The Big Picture One million plastic cups are used on airline flights in the US every six hours(1). In one year that adds up to approximately 1.4 billion plastic single-use cups.
While some airlines are making green strides and providing recycling programs for cans, water bottles and newspapers collected in-flight, you can help stop waste before it happens and use your reusable water bottle and travel mug instead.
