Donation, Recycling & Reuse for Tricky Items

Do you have something you want to get rid of but don't know how to best dispose of it?  Below are some helpful tips for what to do with those tricky items.

Recycle: Here's a list of how to recycle various items in King County.

Reuse: Use"single-use" items such as plastic water bottles, paper or plastic grocery bags, and paper or plastic cups to save both money and natural resources. Always try to repair broken items rather than simply throwing them away.  Earth 911 provides tips on how to get the most out of everything you buy.

Donate: One person's trash is another's treasure.  Try to sell or donate materials you don't want before you throw them away.
Go to a local thrift store such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
Try using
craigslist or Ebay to sell used goods.

Packaging and Shipping Materials: Many local shipping stores will take shipping materials, including styrofoam peanuts, back to reuse.

Elecronic Equipment: Visit our
E-Waste Resources page for tips on how to dispose of electronic waste, including computers, televisions, cell phones, and the toxic materials these products contain.

Ask Charlie: Are you a CleanScapes customer?  Visit our
