CleanScapes is thrilled to announce the arrival of the Puget Sound's first "hybrid" garbage trucks. The trucks, technically called Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA) vehicles, store energy captured when breaking and use it for future acceleration. This technology translates to up to 30% fuel savings and cleaner air for the communities we serve. Want to learn more? Come see the new trucks on Tuesday, April 24th at Des Moines City Hall at our ribbon cutting event.
DES MOINES, WA – (April 24, 2012) – Today, CleanScapes and the City of Des Moines celebrated the arrival of a new environmentally-friendly truck. The Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA) truck is the first hybrid garbage truck in the Northwest.
SEATTLE, WA – (May 17, 2012) – CleanScapes announced today that they will be one of the first companies to join the ranks of Forterra’s Carbon Capturing Companies (C3). Seattle’s biggest names in music, sports and business are voluntarily calculating, reducing and helping mitigate their carbon footprint through a new tree planting program.
Along with CleanScapes, C3 founding partners include Pearl Jam, the Seattle Sounders FC, the Seattle Seahawks, the Seattle Mariners, Outdoor Research, Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, Woodland Park Zoo, Cherry Street Coffee, Glassybaby, Stream Real Estate, GLY Construction, and the Seattle Aquarium. This unique group of businesses and non-profits will annually plant trees that will sequester the carbon emitted by their operations.
The next garbage hauler for most Issaquah residents, CleanScapes, rolled out a compressed-natural gas truck and wildlife-resistant containers in recent days, as the company prepares to start service in the city.
The contract between Seattle-based CleanScapes and the city starts July 1, though service in the city does not commence until July 2 because July 1 is a Sunday.
