~ New Partnership will fuel CleanScapes NW Expansion Plans~
SEATTLE, WA – (October 4, 2011) – CleanScapes, a privately-held company providing solid waste, recycling and yard waste hauling services in Seattle and suburban cities announced its intention, subject to regulatory approval, to merge with California based Recology.
“CleanScapes will retain its name, its management and its culture – especially our focus on recycling, waste reduction, innovation and customer service,” said CleanScapes President Chris Martin. “This move means we’ll be in a stronger position to accelerate an already aggressive expansion plan in the Pacific Northwest to better meet the needs of the community.”
Recology is an employee-owned company that provides solid waste collection, recycling, composting, transfer and landfill operations, and environmental services in northern California, Oregon, and Nevada.
“Recology and CleanScapes are a great match,” said Mike Sangiacomo, president and CEO of Recology. “Both companies are committed to innovation and helping the communities we serve achieve unparalleled recycling rates. We also share a strong commitment to community; hiring from the communities we serve and supporting education, art and volunteer programs. We look forward to working with CleanScapes in the Northwest.”
CleanScapes provides solid waste, recycling and yard waste hauling services in the cities of Seattle and Shoreline and exterior cleaning operations in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco. CleanScapes was represented in the transaction by the Seattle based investment banking firm of Zachary Scott and Co. and by Perkins Coie. Terms of the transaction are not public.
