Recology CleanScapes Awards Scholarship to Shorewood HS Student


$2,000 college scholarship for waste reduction video presentation

Shoreline, WA – Althea Surowiec, a senior at Shorewood High School, was awarded a $2,000 college scholarship by Recology CleanScapes today.  Recology CleanScapes awards an annual scholarship for Shorewood and Shorecrest juniors and seniors who write an essay or produce a video that outlines ideas for waste reduction in their community.

Shoreline Unveils New Sculpture at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park


Shoreline, WA – On Monday, August 5th, Mayor Keith McGlashan was joined by members of the Shoreline community and CleanScapes to officially introduce the newest piece of artwork in the City of Shoreline. The project, which was unveiled at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, represents the culmination of the 2012 CleanScapes’ Neighborhood Waste Reduction Award.

Shoreline City Council Approves Plastic Bag Ban


In a vote Monday night, the council approved an ordinance that will ban most plastic "carryout bags" in the city as of February, 2014. 

Following in the footsteps of neighboring cities such as Edmonds and Seattle, Shoreline passed a sweeping plastic carryout ban Monday, which will take effect early next year.
