This summer, Recology CleanScapes started its Artist in Residence (AIR) program, selecting two Shoreline artists, Karien Balluff and Sarah Reuther as the first participants. The AIR program is a unique art and education program that provides King County artists with access to discarded materials, a stipend, and studio space at Recology’s Seattle MRF.

This January, Recology CleanScapes teamed up with Seattle Central College’s Sustainability Council to perform a waste audit at their Capitol Hill campus. Thirty student and staff volunteers representing the Sustainability Council, environmental studies classes, and general school population helped sort and measure over 80 bags of waste from heavy-use buildings at Seattle Central.

In partnership with Recology CleanScapes, BOMA, and Seattle Public Utilities, the Golden Dumpster Award annually recognizes commercial properties in Seattle that have made significant achievements in the areas of waste reduction, recycling and tenant education
Seattle, WA – On Monday, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Seattle/King County, CleanScapes and Seattle Public Utilities officially launched the 2013 Golden Dumpster Awards competition. These awards provide commercial properties in Seattle with an opportunity to be recognized for achieving significant solid waste reduction, increasing and encouraging recycling and composting in their building, and providing educational opportunities for their tenants.
