2012 Resolution: Big Strides to a Smaller Carbon Footprint

If your New Year’s resolutions include getting in shape and living a more eco-friendly lifestyle, consider these tips to help get you moving and trim your "waste-line."

Get Outside

Grab your reusable water bottle and head outside for a walk, run or bike instead of driving to the gym.

Green Gear

Looking for some new gear to get your motivated? Shop your closet first for workout gear you already own or browse the racks shops like Second Ascent or Play it Again Sports for gently used clothing and gear.

If you’re in the market for new gear, opt for items made with recycled content and renewable materials.

Some companies like Patagonia, accept their products to be returned at the end of their life useful life to be recycled or repurposed. Nike’s ReUse a Shoe program accepts worn-out shoes (of any brand) to be used to make basketball courts and running tracks. Soles4Souls and One World Running will donate your used sneakers to those in need.
