FAQs

What is "Dumpster Free" service?

CleanScapes dumpster free service is a "pay as you throw" collection service for garbage, recycling, and food waste. CleanScapes' customers place materials in pre-purchased bags or in carts and set the bags and tagged carts in a convenient location for collection.

CleanScapes runs collection routes 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and collects all bags and tagged materials a customer has set out. In that way, our service is "right-sized." Customers pay only for the amount of material collected.

What services other than collection are included with "Dumpster Free" service?

In addition to collecting the garbage and recyclables, CleanScapes' dumpster free customers receive the following services:

  • On-call response to cleaning issues and bio-hazards (waste, vomit, blood, etc.)
  • Removal of graffiti and posters proactively and within 48 hours of any report.
  • Regular washing and deodorizing of collection area

How much does "Dumpster Free" service cost?

Dumpster free service is "right-sized" so the cost depends on how much material (garbage and recyclables) customers set out for collection. CleanScapes customers are invoiced monthly according to one of three payment systems.

  • "Pay as you throw"  Customers receive a monthly invoice for the bags and collection tags purchased. This arrangement handles seasonal, weekly and day-to-day variations in volume; encourages waste reduction and recycling; and ensures that customers pay only for the amount thrown out.
  • Flat-rate  Customers pay a monthly fee based on their previous garbage and recycling service plus a fee for bags. This option provides predictability, costs the same as current dumpster service, but provides no incentive or reward for waste reduction and recycling and prevents customers from savings associated with a pay as you throw system.
  • Flat rate with audit.  Customers pay a flat rate but have the opportunity to save money by reducing waste, recycling, and composting. Every 6 months, bag and tag orders are reconciled with the flat rate, and customers' accounts are credited 50% of the difference when bag and tag orders are less than the flat rate but billed 100% of the difference for orders exceeding the flat rate.

Bag and tag prices and sizes are listed on our website (www.cleanscapes.com).  Prices include UPS delivery, daily collection, disposal and recycling charges, and collection area clean up as listed above. All bags and tags are fully refundable.

How do I get my bags and tags?

CleanScapes customers set up their account and receive bag and tag ordering instructions by calling our office (206) 859-6700. Customers order bags and collection tags on-line or by calling our office (206) 859-6700. They are delivered next day via UPS if ordered by noon. Friday orders are delivered on Monday.

How do I make sure my things are picked up?

To prepare materials for collection:

  • Bags. Fill bags full (but less than 60 lbs) and tie them off using the bag corners.
  • Cardboard.  Flatten cardboard and bundle or stack up right in a rack or wedged between carts. Cardboard is collected at no charge so don't put it in your bags or carts.
  • Grease/Fryer Oil. Return grease and fryer oil to the original container with a tight lid. Fryer oil is collected at no charge.
  • Carts:  Carts are to be set-out with the collection (payment tag) clearly looped on the handle.  Carts with torn or half tags will not be collected.

How do I "Take the Most Out of Waste"

Most "garbage" from restaurants, offices and retail stores can be recycled or composted.  To take the most out of waste:

  • Use small containers for garbage and larger containers for recyclables and compostables
  • Clearly mark all containers and post lists and pictures of recyclable and compostable items near containers
  • Call us about "CleanScapes Inbound" and our LEED-EB building programs for waste reduction.

CleanScapes provides flyers, stickers and training to help businesses separate and reduce garbage volumes.  CleanScapes can also provide a site visit to assist with implementation or waste reduction and recycling options.

Recycle — It's cheaper.   Reduce — It's free!
