Our Team:

Chris Martin, Founder and President:

Chris Martin founded CleanScapes with two employees in 1997 in Seattle’s Pioneer Square.   The company’s founding mission was to enhance the commercial and residential viability of urban areas through innovative and efficient streetscape maintenance services while providing employment opportunities for men and women in the social services network.   Since its founding, CleanScapes has grown to employ over sixty employees serving commercial and municipal customers in Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.   Mr. Martin graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Political Science.


Chris Husband, Chief Financial Officer:

Chris Husband joined CleanScapes as Chief Financial Officer in 2005.   Prior to joining CleanScapes, Mr. Husband worked as an analyst for De Santis Capital Management, where he invested in emerging growth companies in the technology sector.   Mr. Husband graduated from Brown University with a degree in Political Science.


Jerry Hardebeck, Chief Operating Officer:

Jerry Hardebeck joined CleanScapes as Chief Operating Officer in 2007.   Prior to joining CleanScapes, Mr. Hardebeck served as Director of Public Sector Services for Waste Management’s operations in Washington and Idaho.   In that role, he supervised the negotiation and administration of over fifty municipal contracts in Washington and Idaho.   Mr. Hardebeck has spent his entire career in the waste management industry, beginning in 1969 as a driver for Rainier Disposal in Renton, Washington.


Dan Bridges, Senior Vice President, Operations and Safety:

Dan Bridges joined CleanScapes as Senior Vice President of Operations and Safety in 2007.   Prior to joining CleanScapes, Mr. Bridges served as the Senior District Manager for Waste Management in Seattle, Washington.   In that role, he supervised over 200 employees serving over 5600 commercial customers and over 100,000 residential customers.   Mr. Bridges began his career in the waste management industry as a driver in 1977 in Maple Valley and Enumclaw, Washington.


Signe Gilson, Waste Diversion Manager

Signe Gilson joined CleanScapes as Waste Diversion Manager in 2006.   In that role, she supervises CleanScape’s innovative “pay-as-you-throw” model of waste collection, which is designed to link waste disposal expense with customers’ ability to minimize the amount of garbage that they produce via reduction and diversion efforts.   Prior to joining CleanScapes, Ms. Gilson served as a Solid Waste Planner for the City of Seattle, where she managed the City’s commercial compost collection program.   Ms. Gilson graduated from The University of Oregon with a degree in Environmental Geography and from The University of Washington with a Masters degree in Urban Planning.


Kristen Pederson, Billing and Customer Service Manager

Kristen Pederson joined CleanScapes as Customer Service Manager in 2007.   Prior to joining CleanScapes, Ms. Pederson served as the Office Manager for Waste Management in Seattle, Washington.   In that role, she supervised a staff of ten dispatch and data management personnel that supported Waste Management’s commercial and residential collection activity in the City of Seattle.   Ms. Pederson began her career in the industry in 1991 as the Office Manager for Waste Management in Auburn, Washington.


Leo Rhoder, San Francisco Operations Manager

Leo Rhoder was promoted to San Francisco Operations Manager in 2005 after three years with the company.   Prior to his promotion to Operations Manager, Mr. Rhoder brought enthusiasm and dedication to virtually any job available in the company’s San Francisco streetscape maintenance division.   Mr. Rhoder is a native of San Francisco who was raised in the City’s historic Fillmore District.


Tracy Nissen , Portland Operations Manager

Tracy Nissen joined CleanScapes as Portland Operations Manager in January 2008. In that role she supervises the CleanScapes team that provides facilities maintenance services to some of Portland’s most visible public spaces. Prior to joining CleanScapes, Ms. Nissen was a service manager for FedEx Ground and an enforcement agent for the Oregon Department of Revenue. Ms. Nissen is an Oregon native and holds an Associates Degree in Education.
